The “Want to Read?” page will highlight books I have read with a synopsis of the story and a thumbs up or down indicating if I would recommend the book.

A book I recently read entitled, “Room”, was written by Emma Donoghue:

Emma Donoghue’s ‘Room’ is about a young mother and her 5 year old son who are being held captive in a small 11×11 size room, with no access to the outside world.  The story highlights the many trials this young mother experiences while being held captive in the room by her kidnapper who is also the father of her son.

“Room” receives a thumbs up from me.  I thoroughly enjoyed this story, which was also made into a movie.  The most unique thing about this fictional story, was the author’s decision to tell the story through the eyes of the five year old boy who was born in the room, and has been trapped there with his mother all of his life, never being made aware of the outside world.
